Like the banner over a castle, military squadron, or tribe is its identification, God’s banner flying over me is love. What an amazing thought! His banner over you and I, His beloved bride the church, IS love. How amazing is that. Thursday was a discouraging and overwhelming day at my new job. But Friday is a brand new day. It was time to get my mind off the job and my discouraged heart for the weekend. I was supposed to be preparing for dinner guests and didn’t really have time to play but I sat in my little corner at my art table just enjoyingRead More →

Three Kings Day… have you ever heard of it? Do you celebrate it or at least make note of it when it comes around every January 6th? Also called Epiphany by some liturgical church traditions, it is also the twelfth day of Christmas. I learned about Three Kings Day many years ago from friends who came from Puerto Rico. Part of their family’s celebration of ‘El Día De Los Reyes’ included setting grass out for the camels just as we might put milk and cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve. Watchful Waiting Joy Advent Bible Journaling Focus – Christmas Eve Our Savior is Here “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:11 Every year I am so struck by God’s plan to send His Son Jesus to be born in a stable and laid in a manger in a tiny little town. (Isaiah 53:4 NIV) He was wounded and stricken for you and me. He took MY punishment and YOUR punishment because of OUR sin. How do we respond to that? It’s a gift beyond imagination. The ONLY real response to that kind of gift is to love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind. And not stopping there but to love others with the same kind of costly love. Not just to obeyRead More →

serendipity noun ser·en·dip·i·ty \ˌser-ən-ˈdi-pə-tē\ : the gift of finding valuable or agreeable things not looked for; the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way I just really love that the kids’ definition of “serendipity” calls it a “gift.” And that’s what this is. Once upon a long time ago, scrapbookers came up with the idea of using up scraps of paper to make little squares of awesomeness to use on their scrapbook pages. With a couple of hours of kind of mindless work, a thrifty crafter could clean up a pile of hard to throw away scraps! Those new sheetsRead More →
