Watchful Waiting Joy – Christmas Eve

Watchful Waiting Joy

Advent Bible Journaling Focus – Christmas Eve

Our Savior is Here

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
Luke 2:11

Every year I am so struck by God’s plan to send His Son Jesus to be born in a stable and laid in a manger in a tiny little town. The best heralds of all time sang an amazing song not in a candlelight service in a beautiful cathedral but in the middle of a dark field to stinky, dirty shepherds just doing their job.

Wow. Does it amaze you too? It squeezes my heart so much.

All through God’s story He does things like that.

If Jesus had come to a wealthy family, had the best midwife, and the news of his birth was shouted on the cover of the most popular publication of the day, where would that leave you and me?

Just some things to think about today.

What an amazing God He is. And the story isn’t over! We continue to watch and wait with hopeful expectation for Jesus to come back again.

“so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:28 ESV

May we wait with intentionality, growing in love for God and for others, and may the hope, love, joy, and peace of God overflow from our lives as our great God uses us in His plan to reach people around us.

Watchful Waiting Joy includes one devotional prompt for each week of Advent plus Christmas Day and a surprise prompt at the end to close out the season. I might be more excited about that one than all of the rest! Each prompt includes a free printable to print and use in your Bible or journal as you process each prompt. The printable is original artwork created by me.

It has been a great joy to watch and wait through Advent with you all. Thanks so much for joining me!
