Recess with Jesus

Recess with Jesus…

Does spending time with God in His Word, the Bible, have to be serious ALL the time? Jesus wants to be part of our everyday life. I don’t know about you but I laugh a lot in my everyday life. I’ve cried a lot too but tears make the laughter more joyful!

We invite Jesus into the tears because we need His help and His comfort, right? What if we invited Jesus into the laughter?

The Psalmist said this…

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11

How sad would it be to miss the fullness of joy in God’s presence?! He desires, yes, even delights, in a relationship with you and me! How much richness do we miss when we forget to simply enjoy Him this day? **I am not saying that there isn’t a definite need for the depth and richness found in discipline on a regular basis. Just that one shouldn’t exclude the other.**

When I began to invite Jesus in to every part of my life, all of it, I found deep joy in His presence. It made me hungry for more of Him. To know more about this Friend above all friends.

Sometimes I just have to give myself permission to relax in His presence, to just have Recess with Jesus… with paints and pens and stickers.

How will you hang out with Jesus this week? I would love to hear about it!

Gallery of Favorites

Each one of these pages is a favorite for one of three main reasons:

  1. The verse or passage is one of my favorites.
  2. The Lord was teaching me something special and the journaling cemented it deep in my heart.
  3. Because I like the way the art turned out even if it wasn’t quite what I had planned.

My very first page is in this gallery. Can you spot it?

I want to encourage you and inspire you. Bible journaling has changed my relationship with Jesus Christ. It has brought life and color and joy in His presence!

Bible journaling is a personal thing. Maybe you feel like you can’t draw or paint. It’s not about the art. Just get into God’s Word! Bible journaling can be as simple or as fancy as you’d like it to be. Even just use a colorful pen to take notes as you study! Or use stickers instead of hand-lettering. You get to decide! There are no rules. Just get in the Word of God to draw closer to the heart of God!

  1. They all are beautifully designed! Do you supply the items to do this except the bible? Is there a teaching with each class?

Hi Brenda, thank you so much for your kind comments. I do supply all the items needed (except for the Bible or journal) for our workshop projects. In each workshop we have a devotion based on the verse or passage we will journal together, we demonstrate a technique, and we journal a page together using the technique. At the end of the workshop we give attenders verses or passages related to the devotional and leave them with enough images (if there is a printable) and encouragement to journal another verse on their own before the next workshop.
