Recess With Jesus

Does spending time with God in His Word, the Bible, have to be serious all the time? Jesus wants to be part of our everyday life. I don’t know about you but I laugh a lot in my everyday life. I’ve cried a lot too but tears make the laughter more joyful!

We invite Jesus into the tears because we need His help and His comfort, right? What if we invited Jesus into the laughter?

The Psalmist said this…

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11

Joy in HIs PresenceHow sad would it be to miss the fullness of joy in God’s presence?! He desires and delights in a relationship with you and me! How much richness do we miss when we forget to simply enjoy Him today? I am not saying that there isn’t a definite need for the depth and richness found in discipline on a regular basis. Just that one shouldn’t exclude the other.

When I began to invite Jesus in to every part of my life, all of it, I found deep joy in His presence. It made me hungry for more of Him. To know more about this Friend above all friends.

Sometimes I just have to give myself permission to relax in His presence, to just have *Recess with Jesus… with paints and pens and stickers.

How will you hang out with Jesus this week? I would love to hear about it!

*Where did “Recess With Jesus” come from? I have been taking online courses this past year. I was also working 22-24 hours per week and taking care of my family. Life was a little crazy. I began to affectionately call my Bible journaling time “recess” and later it became “Recess With Jesus.” I used recess to motivate myself to get assignments done. It was my reward for working hard.
